(External Press Advertisement) Temporary Part-time Visiting Medical Officers for ˇ§CGAT/VMO Collaboration Schemeˇ¨ The Hospital Authority is launching the ˇ§Community Geriatric Assessment Team (CGAT)/Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) Collaboration Schemeˇ¨. The purpose of the scheme is to enhance existing service and provide sustainable quality medical care to all residents in Residential Care Homes for the Elderly (RCHEs) through a longer term collaboration between the public and private sectors. It is expected that through the scheme, participating VMOs will be able to establish a service network with RCHEs in order to build up a long term partnership between them in providing community geriatric care. Private practitioners are invited to participate in the Scheme as VMOs to work in collaboration with the Hospital Authority CGATs to provide services to the RCHEs. Key Responsibilities The VMOs will be required to conduct regular medical consultation to RCHEs at a frequency of 2 sessions (2 hours per session) or more per week, depending on the size of homes and case mix. The key responsibilities are: 1. To provide on-site management of episodic illness and sub-acute problems as well as stable chronic illness residents in RCHEs. 2. To follow up with discharged residents referred by CGAT. 3. To assist in monitoring medical surveillance in RCHEs during prevailing infectious periods. Requirements The VMOs should: 1. possess a qualification recognized in Hong Kong under the Medical Registration Ordinance; and preferably 2. have completed relevant training in geriatric medicine or receiving/have been enrolled into such training. If appointed, VMOs will be enrolled to Mandatory Provident Fund scheme and will be expected to make their own mandatory employee contribution in accordance with legal requirement.
