Thanks to your enthusiastic support of our CME functions, our Association is one of the few medical bodies being appointed CME Provider, Accreditor and Administrator for the voluntary CME Programme for practising doctors not taking CME programme for specialists promulgated by the Medical Council of Hong Kong (MCHK). Such honour would be impossible without your active participation in our CME activities all through the past thirty odd years. At the same time, your Union is more than happy to serve you all as an appointed CME Administrator. Since all appointed CME Providers, Accreditors and Administrators would be vetted by the Medical Council in 6 months’ time from 1st October 2001, we would try to organize CME functions in every possible way to suit the needs of our members. We will treasure any comment or suggestion you raise to improve our CME functions in the years to come.
The CME Programme for practising doctors not taking CME Programme for specialists promulgated by the MCHK has already begun its first 3 year-cycle on 1st October 2001. You are most CORDIALLY INVITED TO REGISTER WITH US for CME documentation and please note that the REGISTRATION WITH US IS TOTALLY FREE. You are advised to register with one appointed CME Administrator, and the Department of Health only accepts those colleagues who are in public service. When you register with us, it is important that you have to submit your Medical Council’s Registration Number for CME attendance compilation and reports to the MCHK at the end of each year and the end of every 3 year-cycle. The MC Registration Number will also facilitate CME data transfer among CME Administrators in future.
To better serve our members in this aspect, your Union has entered into a co-branded credit card partnership with Dah Sing Bank to issue the HKDU Platinum MasterCard which will be your HKDU Membership Card with credit card benefits. It is not just a Membership Card to show our belonging to the Union but more importantly, it is also a personalised “smart card”that will be the only means for automatic registration of CME accredited programmes, such as Sunday symposia and video sessions. The automatic registration will be done through an “electronic reader” connected with computer systems in the CME venues.Details and application forms of the HKDU Platinum MasterCard will be sent to all members in late October 2001 jointly with Dah Sing Bank.
Apart from helping our Members on their paths to life long learning, it is also the aim of the Union to provide a congenial atmosphere for the development of brotherhood among our members. Besides the unique CME function tracking system in the HKDU Platinum MasterCard, there are many other banking facilities and benefits. With the HKDU Platinum MasterCard, you can also help your Union by every purchase you make as part of your card spending will be donated by Dah Sing Bank to your Union to facilitate the development of the Union. Enjoy all the privileges and help your Union by returning the signed Application Form to Dah Sing Bank as soon as possible when you receive it later in October 2001.

最近香港醫務委員會正式委任本會為自願性延續醫學進修證書計劃的主辦機構（CME Programme Provider），評分機構（CME Programme Accreditor）及行政機構（CME Programme Administrator）。這一切來之不易，是各位同業鼎力支持本會、尤其是在這三十多年來不斷參與本會延續醫學進修活動的結果。於此同時，作為延續醫學進修證書計劃官方承認的行政機構（CME Programme Administrator），本會董事會會竭盡所能，為大家辦理好延續醫學進修活動。我相信一個高透明度的會董會，加上大家的寶貴意見，本會的延續醫學進修活動將會更加迎合到各位的需求、亦經得起香港醫務委員會未來的按時審核。
由本年十月一日起，新的三年一期的香港醫務委員會自願性延續醫學進修證書計劃（CME Programme for practicing doctors not taking CME Programme for specialists）已經展開。還未登記該進修證書計劃的會員，請盡快向本會秘書處登記，而費用是全免的。香港醫務委員會要求會員只需向一個延續醫學進修證書計劃行政機構（CME Programme Administrator）登記便可；至於衞生署，就只接受公營同業的登記。當您們向本會登記時，請提供您們的香港醫務委員會註冊號碼，方便本會為大家統計每年及每三年的進修學分、亦便利本會與其他進修證書計劃行政機構（CME Programme Administrators）能夠將大家的進修學分統計得更準確。
為了進一步服務各位會員，本會更與香港大新銀行合作發給大家一張香港西醫聯會白金信用咭。它不僅是香港西醫聯會會員咭，亦是一張在城中獨一無二能夠為大家在延續醫學活動中自動計算進修學分的個人聰明咭。
